September 2009 - 09/10 SEASON KICKS OFF WITH THE BANG OF A DRUM!

The 2009-2010 Season officially commences on Saturday 5th September with entertainment for all players, members, families and friends at this year’s “Scootstock Music Festival”.
Entertainment consists of live music featuring our very own Exiles Youth Band (members of the junior section), The Goose Experience and Palm Strings. Also available will be Inflatables, The Gauntlet, BBQ and Camping. Under 16’s are FREE with adult entry £5 per person.

The following day (Sunday 6th September) will see the first official training session for the junior section commencing at 10.30am @ Exiles. If you are up for a challenge, then pitch your tent on the Saturday, support the bands and camp over ready for the junior section’s training session. (Please note: All juniors must seek parental permission for camping)

The Junior Section are preparing to host the following age groups:
Mighty Under 16’s (Year 10/11)
Exciting Under 14’s (Year 8/9)
Adventurous Under 12’s (Year 6/7)

So, if you can recruit any of the above age groups bring them along on the 6th & 13th Sept to the Exiles and/or 20th & 27th Sept at Sheldon Heath Community Arts College.

Fixture List:
Fixtures are being put together for the under 16’s and the under 14’s, with at least one per month planned for each age group. The fixture list will be published on 6th September.

Exiles Supporters Club links with Air Ambulance:
Exiles supporters’ club shirts are now on sale for £10, with a % of the proceeds going to the Midland Air Ambulance. This is one of many fundraising events going on to support the work of this lifesaving charity.

Exiles under 14 and under 12 teams will be playing at Handsworth RFC on Sunday 18th January 2009. Meet will be at Sheldon Heath at 10am.

September 2008

Exiles Junior Section have been awarded £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, to further assist the development of Community Rugby by the Youth Section Please click here to see the press release in the Solihull Observer.

June 2008

On 23rd June 2008, Exiles delivered a tag rugby festival at Mapledene School for the Sheldon Primary Schools Tag Rugby Festival. Year 3 children from Blakenhale Juniors, Elms Farm and eventual winners Mapledene took part in a festival that was implemented by volunteer coaches from the Exiles.

Over 70 kids were involved, great fun had by them, the teachers and Exiles coaches. Many thanks to the Exiles coaches who were magnificent, to the schools, Richard Webb (RFU development officer for Birmingham City Council), Les Barwood (Community Coach) and Sarah Watts (School sports coordinator)
